Jury Finds Gena Klein Guilty of Neglect of a Minor
FREDERICK – A Frederick County Jury returned a guilty verdict against Gena Klein, 31, of Frederick, Maryland on the charge of Neglect of a Minor. The trial began August 23, 2017 and the jury deliberated for approximately 2 ½ hours before returning the verdict. The defendant was found not guilty of 2 counts of Second Degree Child Abuse.
On December 8, 2016 a Frederick Police Department Detective was dispatched to the Frederick Memorial Hospital for a report of possible sexual child abuse. The victim was transferred to Children’s National Medical Center for examination and treatment. The victim in this case is a five month old female with a severe case of diaper rash, extreme diarrhea, vaginal trauma, a prolapsed rectum and a leg fracture.
The Honorable Theresa M. Adams postponed sentencing until a pre-sentence investigation can be completed and continued the defendant on pre-sentence supervision.
