This morning, State’s Attorney, Charlie Smith and Brett Engler, Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit and Chair of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council of Frederick County attended “Sacred Spaces,” at Wayman AME Church in Frederick. The event featured several survivor speakers and a dialogue with the faith community about the role faith leaders can play in supporting intimate partner violence victims. Assistant State's Attorney Engler welcomed the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with our local, faith-based organizations to broaden awareness of domestic violence as well as offer resources to victims and their families. As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, ASA Engler reminded community leaders that intimate partner violence affects our entire community, and permeates all levels of socio-economic status. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth
