Larnell Lyles Sentenced to 60 Years
FREDERICK – Larnell Lyles, age 29, of Frederick, Maryland appeared before the Honorable Theresa M. Adams in the Circuit Court for Frederick County and entered an Alford Plea to First Degree Murder. The Honorable Theresa M. Adams found him guilty and sentenced him to Life in Prison with all but 60 years suspended. The defendant will be required to serve at least 50% of his sentence, as he was convicted of a crime of violence. Upon release, he will be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
On June 13, 2015, FPD Officers responded to the area of Vermont Court for a reported shooting.
Upon reaching that location, they found the victim, Brandon T. Brown, lying outside of an ice cream truck and bleeding from his chest. EMS units arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Officers reviewed surveillance video of the incident and were able to view a black male approach the ice cream truck, he walks several steps away and then walks back to the ice cream truck and reaches toward his waistband. The victim exits the truck and the Defendant raises his arm and shoots the victim. The Defendant then flees the scene while children are seen running from the area.
A suspect was developed through investigation and a witness who saw the shooting was shown a photo array by FPD detectives and positively identified Larnell Lyles as the shooter.
