FREDERICK- Robert Glen Laudick, age 52 of Mt. Airy, Maryland appeared before the Honorable Judge Scott L. Rolle for sentencing on 3 separate cases. Laudick received a Life sentence for the offense of First Degree Murder, a 10 year sentence for Third Degree Sexual Offense, and a 5 year sentence for Possession of Child Pornography. The latter two offenses will run concurrent with the sentence of Life. Should the defendant ever be released on parole, registration as a child sex offender is mandated by statute. The Defendant had pled Guilty to all three offenses on September 21, 2016. On October 6, 2015, the Defendant was arrested by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, for Sexual Abuse of a Minor and related offenses. He was released on bond the next day and within 24 hours, the Defendant dialed 911 and declared to the Emergency Communications operator, “I killed my wife and I shot myself in the chest”. The defendant survived, and Donna Laudick’s death was ruled a homicide. As the investigation continued, the defendant’s password protected laptop was submitted for a forensic examination, and more than 1600 images of child pornography and erotica were found on the hard drive. The report also showed that those images were obtained by the user having entered search terms known by experts to be commonly used by persons in search of child pornography.
The State was represented by Chief Assistant State’s Attorney Lindy Angel and Chief Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Bruton.
