Frederick Man to Serve 9 Years in Prison for Attempted 2nd Degree Rape and Sex Abuse of a Minor
Frederick, MD – Today, in Frederick County Circuit Court, Judge Richard Sandy sentenced Jose Nelson Guerra-Sanchez, 26, to 25 years suspend all but 9 years in the Department of Corrections for Sex Abuse of a Minor.
On February 14, 2023, a Frederick Police Department Detective responded to a call for a delayed report of sexual abuse. Through investigation, and after a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center, it was learned that the defendant sexually abused the victim when the victim was 14 years old and the defendant was 23 years old.
The Defendant was previously convicted on April 9, 2024 after a bench trial in front of the Honorable Richard Sandy.
Upon release, the Defendant will serve 5 years of supervised probation through COMET supervision, have no contact with the victim, have no contact with minor children, and must submit to a psychosexual evaluation and follow all recommendations. In addition, the Defendant will have to register as a sex offender for life and is also subject to lifetime sex offender supervision.
