Frederick County Now One of Eight Maryland Counties Offering Truancy Reduction Court

October 31, 2025 – Chief Counsel Joyce King, along with Chief Justice of The Supreme Court of Maryland Matthew J. Fader, Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Joanie Raymond Brubaker and County Executive Jessica Fitzwater celebrated today’s ribbon cutting ceremony of Frederick County’s Truancy Reduction Court. The Program aims to improve school attendance by working with students and families to identify the root causes of truancy and to provide multiple resources for students’ success. Circuit court judges, case managers and community-based services provide support to Frederick’s students and their families. Frederick County is now one of eight counties in Maryland to provide this problem-solving court.
